Fourth International Conference ‘Suffering of the Serbs, Jews, Roma and Others in Former Yugoslavia’ was held at the premises of The Union – Nikola Tesla University to mark the Holocaust Remembrance Day. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Business Studies and Law and the Faculty of Strategic and Operational Management in cooperation with the Museum of Genocide Victims in Belgrade.


The ceremonial hall was packed with listeners, mostly young people. There were a few former prisoners of Sajmiste and Jasenovac concentration camps, their family members as well as the representatives of several associations of the Second World War concentration camp victims. On their behalf, Slavko Milanovic, former Jasenovac prisoner, greeted the attendees.

The Conference was opened by Prof Dr Zivota Radosavljevic. Prof Dr Veljko Djuric Misina, Acting Director of the Museum of Genocide Victims also welcomed the guests and participants.

Samuel Evyatar from Jerusalem greeted the public in Serbian and gave a very interesting speech about the necessity to always remember those who suffered and died in the crimes committed during the wars.

Afterwards, by the virtue of a video-link, Prof Dr Vidoje Vujic from Rijeka and Prof Dr Danijel Vojak from Zagreb joined the Conference. Savo Strbac, President of Documentation and Information Center ‘Veritas’ spoke about his two decades of researching the civil war crimes in Croatia 1991-1995.

This was followed by a speech and presentation by Prof Dr Milan Radosavljevic, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies and Law. The organizers customized the contents of the conference for the young as well, so students Aleksandra Radakovic, Nikola Radakovic and Ivan Stefanovic also had their presentations.


Ма Самуел Евјатар из Јерусалима поздравио је на српском језику присутне и одржао веома занимљиву беседу о потреби сећања на страдалнике у злочинима који су се догодили у ратовима.

Након тога путем видео-линка у рад конференције су се укључили проф. др Видоје Вујић из Ријеке и проф. др Данијел Војак из Загреба. Саво Штрбац, председник Документационо-информационог центра „Веритас“, говорио је о свом дводеценијском раду на истраживањеу злочина у грађанском рату у Хрватској 1991–1995. године.

Следило је излагање и декана Факултета за пословне студије и право, проф. др Милана Радосављевића. С обзиром на то да су организатори прилагодили садржај конференције младима, и студенти Александра Радаковић, Никола Радаковић и Иван Стефановић су имали своја излагања.


The participants and attendees then had the opportunity to watch a segment of a documentary called ‘Sajmiste: History of a Camp’, produced by the B92 television.

Writer and Visual Artist Maja Familic’s poem marked the end of the Conference.
